Sunday 28 July 2013

Hi all. We've put two more shows on sale this week and are soon to announce plans for a birthday party in The Basement on August 24th. We'll be entering our ninth year of musical parties, where the time has gone we do not know. We'll let you know all about that next week.

The Wave Pictures are touring again in preparation for their new album 'City Forgiveness'. They'll be playing a show for us in the Games Room at The Brudenell Social Club in Leeds on Sept. 26th. The residency shows in York were beyond great and the new material was as good as anything they've ever done. They've just put a live version of new song 'The Woods' online, recorded at Toerag Studios with two drummers, a fifties vibe and a lot of words, you can watch it here. You should do that.

Another very special treat in store for Oct. 16th at The Duchess in York when former American Music Club frontman Mark Eitzel brings his four piece band to town. His last album, 'Don't Be A Stranger' was probably the best of his career and furthered thinking that he's one of the finest yet under-appreciated songwriters in the world.

Supporting Mark are Italian outfit Sacri Cuori. They've released two albums of wonderfully varied instrumental music they call and featured a who's who of American players including Isobel Campbell singing her finest Nancy and Lee moment, Jim Keltner (Beatles, Dylan, etc), Joey Cavortino (Calexico, Giant Sand) JD Foster (Green on Red) David Hidalgo (Los Lobos), Marc Ribot (Tom Waits etc), Stephen McCarthy (Long Ryders), Woody Jackson, Howe Gelb, Calexico, James Chance and John Parish. You should check them out, you can do that here.

Tickets for both shows are available now on the Upcoming Shows page.
